The Social Ministry Committee’s mission is to show God’s love by serving our neighbors – within the congregation, the community, and the world. Some of the ways we do this is by supporting the following agencies:
- Monthly collection and distribution of food and toiletry items to the House of Neighborly Service (agency that provides food baskets and services to low-income community members).
- Monthly collection and distribution of health and miscellaneous necessities to Crossroads Safehouse (shelter for domestically abused women & children).
- Monetarily support and advocate the mission of Mosaic (program that assists individuals with mental/physical disabilities).
- Monetary support of Alternatives to Violence, Boy Scout Troop #185, Lutheran Campus Ministry @ CSU, Loveland/Berthoud Interfaith Hospitality Network (this program serves homeless families with children), Lutheran Family Services, Larimer County Food Bank, Open Door Mission, and Lutheran Ranches of the Rockies.
- Host Bonfils Blood Drives here at TLC once or twice each year.
- Host a cake reception for members attending the afternoon service on Maundy Thursday.
- Oversee the birthday greetings project for members of the congregation who are over 70 years of age.
- Assist in the collection and distribution of Christmas Food/Gift Baskets.
- Administer the Christmas Alternative Gift Giving Program.
- Inform and encourage donations on behalf of World Hunger.
- Coordinate collection & assembly of supplies for health kits, and delivery of completed kits to Lutheran World Relief.
- Committee representative assists the pastor in administering the Help Our Own Fund (program provides temporary financial support to members in need).
Our committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. We encourage anyone who may be interested to join us.
