“Praise the LORD, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.” ~ Psalm 146 1-2
Growing up in the church, singing and praising God went hand in hand. But as I went through high school, I wanted to be a music teacher (where music and God get separated). I received my Bachelors in Music Education from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Then in the summer time I would be a camp counselor at a Lutheran high adventure servant camp in Appalachia. My last summer there I remember talking with a pastor by the creek and realizing God had smacked me upside the head with a 2 by 4 and was calling me in to ministry – as a Lutheran Deaconess. I would get to sing praises, rock climb and more and talk about God while doing all the things I loved!
So, I went to Valparaiso University and completed the Lutheran Deaconess Association formation process and was consecrated in December 2006. My internship brought me out to Colorado and when my husband and I got married (who also worked for a Lutheran camp) we chose to stay in the “playground state.” I started at Trinity Loveland in fall of 2008 and was installed as an Associate in Ministry in February 2008. I feel God has truly called me here to serve and it is the right fit. I look forward to continuing to serve here with amazing people! God is good all the time, all the time God is good.
