“If you love me, you will keep my commandments, and I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever. This is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, because he abides with you, and he will be in you. (John 14:15-17)  On Pentecost Sunday we see this wonderful promise and assurance from Jesus to his disciples being fulfilled with the outpouring of the Holy upon the believers gathered in Jerusalem. After Easter, Pentecost is the second most important celebration of the church year. It is the birthday of the church, it is the empowerment of Jesus followers, it is the promise that they will do even greater works in his name, and it is their commission to continue the work and ministry that Jesus has begun by taking the Gospel to all peoples around the world. The purpose as Jesus tells his disciples, is so that all might know the love of God. You cannot read the book of Acts-the history of the early church, without realizing the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s lives. We too have the same calling as Jesus early followers and of course we continue share God's love in many ways. I am always amazed at the generous outpouring of God's love and service here at Trinity Lutheran Church. It seems like the Holy Spirit is alive and well.  This year on Pentecost Sunday we will be confirming three young people into the life of our church, Emilio Perez, Garret Dirks, and Faith Yunger. They are ready to affirm their baptism and realize that confirmation is not a graduation from but a commission to join with us in the service of our Lord. What an exciting adventure as the Spirit of God that was present at creation, that spoke through the prophets, that was mightily at work in Jesus, is now at work in all of us to help bring about God's kingdom.

I would also like to remind you about our summer worship schedule. During June, July and August, there will be one Sunday service at 9:00 am and a service Saturday evening at 5:30. Holy Communion will be celebrated at every Saturday evening service and the first and third Sundays of each month.

May God bless you with a wonderful summer and all that you do.  In God's love,
